U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, campaigning for republican candidates in Michigan, is pushing back against a letter from the Biden administration giving Israel 30 days to improve humanitarian efforts in Gaza or risk losing U.S. military aid

Some voters vow not to support Kamala Harris for president unless the U.S. changes its support for Israel and say the recent killing of the head of Hamas provides an opening for a cease fire in Gaza.

But House Speaker Mike Johnson, campaigning for GOP candidates in the battleground state of Michigan, says Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran:

“We have got to stand by Israel to complete their mission there and bring peace back to the region. I think they’re on the path to do that. I actually spoke to Prime Minister Netanyahu and got an update from him. And they’re feeling very encouraged that they can eliminate that threat.”

Johnson adds that Iran has allegedly targeted former President Trump and says the U.S. will consider any attempt on his life an act of war.
