With tourism and hospitality booming in West Michigan; and new hotels, an amphitheater and soccer stadium planned for Grand Rapids, the Public School District is reopening a school focused on supplying local talent to fill the need.
In partnership with Grand Valley State University, the Ottawa Hills Academy of Hospitality and Tourism offers hands-on learning with a focus on real-world skills in event management, food service, and sustainable tourism.
Launched in 2019, the academy allows students to explore career paths in lodging, sports, entertainment, and travel, partnering with local businesses to gain experience and opportunities to round out their education and prepare ahead of college.
The Grand Rapids Public Schools and Experience Grand Rapids will host a Grand Reopening of the Ottawa Hills Academy of Hospitality and Tourism Tuesday, October 15 from 6 to 7:30 to share the program with the public.
Ottawa Hills High School is located at 2055 Rosewood Avenue SE, Grand Rapids.
