You still have a few weeks, but the City of Grand Rapids is reminding and informing residents that seasonal parking rules kick off on November first.
It happens every year and a news release says the odd-even and same side parking restrictions are to allow City Street sweepers and snowplows easier access to neighborhood streets.
John Gorney, public works director says, “We need the community’s help as we work to clear streets of leaves and other tree debris that naturally fall into the road,” he adds, “Following the parking restrictions allows us to effectively clean the streets and ensures we don’t have flooded streets this winter due to clogged catch basins.”
According to the City of Grand Rapids’ Mobile GR Department, vehicles parked in violation of these restrictions may be ticketed. The City begins enforcement of seasonal parking regulations whether there’s snow on the ground or not. And the city says to avoid a $20 parking ticket, drivers are encouraged to comply with the signs posted on the street.
