Max Richtman, President of National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare endorses Rep. Elissa Slotkin in Grand Rapids

A national seniors advocacy group endorsed Elissa Slotkin for Senate Monday at an event in Grand Rapids

The president of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare endorsed Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin in her run for the open Michigan Senate seat against former Congressman Republican Mike Rogers after scoring their voting records on issues important to senior citizens.

“Her score is 100%. That means she’s voted in the best interest of seniors every time there’s been a vote in the Congress.”

Slotkin vowed that protecting Social Security and Medicare remains one of her most urgent issues and touted her record on voting to protect quality healthcare, lower prescription drug prices and support Medicare’s ability to negotiate with insurance companies.

“One of the things I’m most proud of is passing a transparency bill actually signed into law by Donald Trump to require every health care program that takes any Medicare money to show you online or in the doctor’s office how to comparison shop for the drugs you’re being prescribed. Is it cheaper in the generic? Is it cheaper at Rite Aid or CVS?”

Slotkin also stated the economic issues important to seniors are largely the same for Americans in general.
