Grand Valley State University participates in Tech Week Grand Rapids

Technology is changing nearly every field of work and as the greater Grand Rapids area ramps up to become a leading technology hub, Grand Valley State University is focusing on the future with its new College of Computing.

“GVSU is always committed to the community so there was a strong need for basically preparing talent in high tech whether in cyber security, in AI, in data science, in ARVR.”

Dr. Marouane Kessentini is the dean of the new college and shared insight at an event during Tech Week focusing on digital transformation and the future of computing.

“It’s not just about technology. You have also to deal with humans as well because you’re trying to all this new technology that will automate may tasks and so on, so you need to deal with a lot of cultural change within companies.”

The event also focused on how developing a pipeline for international talent can be a game-changer for the region in a panel discussion with representatives from economic development agency The Right Place.
