This year’s kickoff event speaker is Stepen Dubner, co-author of the book Freakonomics and host of the Freakonomics Radio podcast.

Tech Week is an annual six-day event held at various locations throughout downtown Grand Rapids, designed to showcase the region’s tech community. It features panel discussions, hands-on exhibits, and networking opportunities.

“Expectations that we have for Tech Week have surpassed every year and so I think that it is going to be a signature. It’s sticking around.”

Jennifer Wangler is Vice-President of Technology for The Right Place. She says the city hosted over 13,000 guests for last year’s event.

“What we’ve seen is, with all of the great press Grand Rapids has received over the last couple of years, having that one signature event where we can come together and kind of celebrate the community has really gained some visibility for us.”

This year’s kickoff event speaker is Stepen Dubner, co-author of the book Freakonomics and host of the Freakonomics Radio podcast.

Wangler explains what attendees take away from Tech Week.

“They will gain a better understanding of the vibrant tech community that we have here in West Michigan, all of our capabilities and our companies that are doing some amazing things in technology.”

Tech Week runs September 16th – 21st.
