“We are looking to add another facility on the 36th street site.”
Jason Perry with Benteler Automotive says the German company will invest over one hundred million dollars to build a factory on a portion of the site once occupied by a General Motors stamping plant.
“And bring in about another 150 jobs to the area.”
“They are looking at the southwest part of the parcel which is approximately a 20-acre parcel.”
City manager John Shay says Benteler will make electric vehicle parts in the new plant.
“They are looking at building battery components for the Ford transit van.”
After GM closed their stamping plant in 2009, the 36th street site has sat vacant, but now Corwell Health is building a service center on a piece of the property…and Benteler Automotive a factory on another section.
“We are excited to work with Wyoming and keep another facility in the area.”
Construction on the new factory could begin this fall.
“We are excited about this development.”
