Six properties in Ottawa County require special permits for hunting.

While Ottawa County Parks & Recreation offers hunting on over 4,500 acres of selected properties, six of those properties require a special permit, those properties being Crockery Creek Natural Area, Upper Macatawa Natural Area, North Ottawa Dunes/Ottawa Sands, and Stearns Creek North and South.

Hunters may apply for each of the three lotteries but only need to submit one application per lottery.

At Crockery Creek, Upper Macatawa, and Stearns Creek, a special permit is required for archery hunting. That season runs in fall from October 15th through November 15th, and in winter from December 1st through January 1st.

At Stearns North, a special permit is required for all game hunting. That season runs in the fall from October 15th through January 1st and in spring from April 15th through May 15th, 2025.

And at North Ottawa Dunes and Ottawa Sands, the Lakeshore Wildlife Management firearm hunt takes place November 22nd through the 25th.

You can apply for any of these lotteries right now and find more information here. Most applications are due by August 31st.
