According to WalletHub, the city of Grand Rapids ranks 23rd out of 149 for Best Run Cities in America, an annual list put out by the personal finance firm. That’s up from last year’s ranking of 28.
WalletHub’s list of the Best- & Worst-Run Cities in America compares 149 of the most populated cities across six key categories: financial stability, education, health, safety, economy, and infrastructure and pollution.
This year, Grand Rapids also captured top honors for operational efficiency in the state of Michigan and scored a 33 in “Quality of Services” and 31 in “Total Budget per Capita” ratings.
The number one spot went to Nampa, Idaho, and last place went to San Francisco, California.
Grand Rapids’ City Manager Mark Washington said that the recognition is a tribute to the city’s elected officials, staff, board and commission members, and community partners who dedicate themselves to improving the community.
