The Kent County Sheriff’s Office along with search and rescue volunteers, the FBI, U.S. Marshalls and the Rockford Department of Public Safety had conducted many extensive searches in the area

On Sunday, July 21st, around 11:00 AM, Penelope Wise, also known as Penny, was located safe.

Investigators discovered 17-year-old Penny had met a 44-year-old Rockford man around 2:00 AM on June 1st. He was a stranger to Penny. She lived with the man in his Rockford home until this past Sunday, when she left his residence on a bicycle and was spotted by a community member, who contacted police.

Investigators also learned that Penny and the man were engaged.

Penny left her Cedar Springs home May 31st around 6:00 PM on foot. Since then, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office along with search and rescue volunteers, the FBI, U.S. Marshalls and the Rockford Department of Public Safety had conducted many extensive searches in the area after Penny was observed on camera near the Rockford Corner Bar shortly after she disappeared.

While this wraps up the nearly 2-month search for Penny, Kent County detectives are still investigating the case.
