Former President Donald Trump and his vice-presidential candidate Senator JD Vance from Ohio are coming to downtown Grand Rapids for a campaign rally Saturday at the Van Andel Arena.
Doors open at noon for the event scheduled to start at five.
Police are closing the roads immediately around the arena, including parts of Fulton Street, Ottawa Avenue, Oakes Street, and Weston Street along Monroe and Ionia Avenues.
There will be short-term rolling closures before and after the event.
Parking ramps and lots downtown will remain open with the exception of Grand Rapids Parking Area 2 immediately behind the arena.
No metered parking will be available around the arena.
Both The Rapid and DASH bus services will be running with detours.
Officials urge anyone coming downtown to check information on the city’s road closure map online and ask for patience and courtesy when encountering delays.
Information on city-owned parking, including maps and rates, is available here.
