The coach and players say they are proud of their accomplishments this season

“We are disappointed as you might expect.”

But Grand Rapids rise coach Cathy George says even though it did not end the way they had hoped, the team had a successful first season.

“I thought our team really came together this year and I was really proud of everything they did. To put ourselves in a position to be in the championship match.”

In the “Match for a Million” championship game Saturday the Rise fell to the Omaha Supernovas in straight sets, 3-0. Because it was played in Omaha, the stands were full of Supernova fans.

“It would be great to be at a neutral site, no doubt about that, but we are not making an excuse for anything that happened.”

“I won’t describe this last game as negative not matter of the result because we created something that is going to last forever.”

14-year veteran Emiliya Dimitrova is retiring returning to her home in Bulgaria and won’t be on the Grand Rapids Rise next season. But she predicts a bright future for the team.

“Because they are rising stars and I am just looking forward to see what is coming for them.”
