Senior care provider Holland Home is inviting the public to its Breton Woods campus to view the first phase of upgrades in a $15 million project

Holland Home is opening its doors this month to showcase recent improvements as part of the $15 million renovation and redesign of its Southeast Grand Rapids campus.

President and CEO Troy Vugteveen says it includes 60 projects over the next several years to enhance the quality of life for its residents and staff.

“To continue to keep things on the cutting edge and to continue to keep things as beautiful as possible but we also see it as a great opportunity to honor our staff as well and help them feel proud of where they’re working.”

Phase One focused on refreshing and upkeep at Breton Terrace, a 5-story independent living facility, including an overhaul of the Woods Café dining room.

Phase Two includes creating outdoor dining at the Café, electric vehicle charging stations and upgrades to the fitness center.

“The neat thing is the equipment that goes in there is state-of-the-art, so this equipment is able to be personalized for each different resident based on the exercise program they set up for themselves.”

The money for the renovations comes from the operating capital and community donors.

“This project and the renovations that we do, it's consistent with who we want to be when it comes to our mission statement. We want to serve with love and compassion, we want to commit to excellence and we’re going to follow Christ’s teachings in what we do.”

The next public open house at Holland Home is May 23.
