TEP is scheduled for completion in 2027.

2023 was a record-breaking year for the number of passengers served by the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. A trend demanding additional capacity and optimization of operations.

The Airport Authority is investing $135 million expanding the west end of the terminal by 175,000 square feet.

The Terminal Enhancement Project, or TEP, will include improvements in baggage handling screening. Ford International will become the first U.S. small-hub airport installing an Individual Carrier System.

The checked luggage process will be streamlined with a Consolidated Baggage Inspection System. Also consolidated, airline ticket counters will receive a new operating space. Also, new, larger baggage claim carousels will be installed.

The Terminal Enhancement Project is a part of the ELEVATE capital expansion program funded by federal and state grants, airport-issued municipal bonds, and user fees. TEP is scheduled for completion in 2027.
