The Committee plays a big role in shaping U.S. policy towards China, including a measure to force a company in that country to divest itself of the social media platform Tik Tok.
Congressman John Moolenaar says China routinely uses those kinds of platforms to spy on Americans and gain key government...utility and corporate data.
He says the U.S. needs to up its cyber security game.
“We experienced hacking at the highest levels of the federal government, the Commerce Department. You know we’ve seen them fly a spy balloon over our country. they bribed military officials. So a lot of nefarious activity that we need to continue to expose.”
Moolenaar, who opposes a company with alleged ties to China building an electric vehicle battery plant in Michigan, says he believes U.S. taxpayers should not be subsidizing one of the nation’s chief global competitors.
