The stop was part of a four-day tour of manufacturing facilities in Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin, promoting the Biden Administration’s clean energy policies and industrial strategies.
“We are bringing manufacturing home. Instead of importing battery components from China, we’re processing graphite in Warren. We’re manufacturing cells in Holland. We’re building packs in Holland and in Midland. Instead of importing solar panels, we’re going to manufacture our own in Belding and in Thomas Township. In a once closed-down factory in Hamtramck, we’re building electric vehicles. In the shadows of the first Model-T factory, a new job center is referring young people to EV training programs.”
Secretary Granholm also visited the Kraft-Heinz facility in Holland, which was selected to receive funding as part of the U.S. Energy Department’s efforts to lower emissions from difficult-to-decarbonize sectors.
