At least one county commissioner is pushing back against that suggestion, saying the vaccine has caused autism in the county

“[I]t is the best protections it is one of the vaccines that has a high efficacy rate for protection it’s the one people are most concerned about too for autism.”

Ottawa County Commissioner Sylvia Rhodea, chair of the committee that oversees health services is telling health officer Adeline Hambley the measles vaccine has caused autism in the county. Hambley isn’t buying it:

“Vaccine injury has been personally lived by a lot of parents in this community including the effect of autism.”

“Any connection between autism and vaccine has been thoroughly debunked”

“There is no link between vaccines and autism.”

Dr. Robert Jacobson is professor of pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic.

“Study after study conducted both here at mayo clinic and across the world have demonstrated clearly there is no link from vaccines and autism we have no vaccines that have ever caused a case of autism.”

“There are people on both sides of this but i don’t want to discount lived experience of families.”

“Vaccine is the best protection to prevent problems like pneumonia encephalitis. Ottawa County has not had any cases of measles since 1991 so we would like to maintain that.
