Mobile GR says they plan to position 6 electric vehicles at city owned parking lots for rent by the hour or day.

“Our initial rollout will be this spring,”

Ariana Jeske of Mobile GR says they plan to position 6 electric vehicles at city owned parking lots for rent by the hour or day.

“$5.00 per hour the first 150 miles is covered 40 cents per mile after the 150 we have a day rate under discussion that is 50 dollars a day 24 hour max trip.”

To rent an EV, drivers must be 21 or older, have a credit, debit or prepaid card, and nothing serious on their driving record.

“Your record will be reviewed and verified and free of any major infractions.”

Midwest Mobility has a 3 year 500 thousand dollars to provide, maintain and insure the vehicles. Richard Kosmacher says they also provide a comprehensive orientation.

“Before we let anybody get in a car we are going to walk them through everything how to use and electric car.”

The E-V car share program is aimed at people in underserved communities without easy relatively inexpensive access to a vehicle, and that has the endorsement of city commissioner Lisa Knight,

“I’m excited for this to come to our city and provide more opportunities for people who need those mobility options.”

If it’s a success, more e-v’s may be added.

“We hope to expand to 12 vehicles.”
