CDC Director Cohen urges vaccinations during Detroit visit

Covid cases are rising, with about 800 people hospitalized statewide.

About 2.2 million people in Michigan have received a flu shot, but fewer than half of that number have received the latest Covid-19 booster.

RSV, another respiratory illness, is also making the rounds.

CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen says there’s a vax for that too, for young kids and their moms.

“If you're a pregnant mom and you're between 32 and 36 weeks we also have a new vaccine for pregnant moms to protect their babies against RSV.”

Dr. Cohen says local health departments meeting people where they are can be huge to ending health care disparities in Black and brown communities.

“Pairing together folks who are already trusted and doing great work and then saying hey how about a vaccine as well I think that partnership is really important”
