UAW Strike

The United Auto Workers union has launched another, previously unannounced, strike. This strike is against one of General Motors most profitable factories in Texas.

About five thousand workers walked off the job at GM’s Arlington Assembly plant…which builds lucrative…large S-U-V’s.

Earlier in the day G-M reported it earned about three billion dollars in the third-quarter of the year…but claims it’s also lost roughly 800 million dollars because of the ongoing strike against Detroit’s Big Three automakers.

Last week, UAW President Shawn Fain told members the union was making progress on new deals with the automakers.

“But G-M in particular is worrying. They tell us they need a two-tier wage progression because they expect to do a lot of hiring…and won’t give us the right to strike over plant closures. I wonder how members of Arlington and Flint truck feel about that.”

At that time Fain said Ford’s contract proposals were lagging behind the other car companies. But the union has now gone on strike in successive days against Stellantis and GM.
