The union is not expanding its strike against Detroit’s Big Three automakers

It’s been more than a month since targeted UAW strikes began against General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis.

And UAW President Shawn Fain says the union’s strategy is working.

The automakers have said they’ve offered record wage increases.

Then, Fain says, the companies put forward a new record proposal.

“In the past 24 hours we’ve gotten new offers from two of the three companies. So despite all the bluster about how much the companies have stretched, there’s clearly still room to move.”

Fain says General Motors and Stellantis have put new numbers on the bargaining table.

But he says the Ford Motor Company, which saw the union go on strike at its most profitable plant, has yet to come back with a new offer and instead is threatening to close some plants.
