Grand Rapids Tech Week launches Thursday.

In 2021, regional economic development organization, The Right Place, launched a 10-year strategy positioning Grand Rapids as a Midwestern tech hub. Enlisting 300 area leaders, a strategy was deployed with a goal of achieving 10% regional employment within the tech sector. That would require 20,000 tech sector jobs over the next decade.

The nonprofit has released an annual progress report citing the creation of 3,352 tech jobs toward the 20,000 goal.

In the Grand Rapids area there’s been an 82% increase in the number of tech job postings between 2020 and 2022 with a median advertised salary of $90 thousand.
