Public safety officers in Grand Haven already have cameras in their squad cars, soon they will start wearing body cameras

The contract with Motorola is for 130 thousand dollars; upgrade the cameras on squad cars, and 10 body cameras public safety officers will wear while on duty. Councilman Ryan Cummins thinks the body cams are good additions for the officers and the community:

“glad to see we are getting to the point where we are adding body cams to the systems we have here in addition to the in car cameras. I think both our officers and the public welcome that as a tool.”

Payment of the 130 thousand dollars for the cameras will be spaced out over 5 years. The council vote to approve the purchase was unanimous.
