Grand Haven Police officers shoot and kill 'suicidal' man armed with rifle

Officers on administrative leave as Michigan State Police investigate

Authorities say, police shot and killed a 66-year-old man Sunday morning in the parking lot of Trinity Grand Haven Hospital.

According to the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety, two officers responded to a report of a suicidal man armed with a rifle.

As police intervened, the officers discharged their firearms as the man confronted them.

Grand Haven Public Safety director Jeff Hawke issued this statement quote:

“Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased and all who were involved in this incident. ”

The investigation has been turned over to the Michigan State Police.

Both officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.
