If you have expired, unused or unwanted medications, you’ll have an opportunity to get rid of them. The Kentwood Police Department is hosting its annual “Prescription Take Back Day”

On Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Kentwood Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will host DEA’s ‘National Prescription Take Back Day’.

A news release says they provide the public with the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted medications.

You can bring your pills for disposal to the Kentwood Police Department at 4742 Walma Southeast in Kentwood.

The department says it will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

Liquids (including intravenous solutions), syringes and other sharps, and illicit drugs will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Police say for more than a decade, the event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications,

In partnership with local law enforcement, Take Back Day has removed more than 8,300 tons of medication from circulation since its inception.
