A standoff between federal law enforcement and a man wanted for alleged child abduction ended Thursday in the eastern U.P. None of the children were harmed. Officials found one of the suspects deceased.

U.S. Marshals attempted to arrest Giovanni McNab and his wife, Lindsey McNab, Wednesday morning. The Missouri couple faced abduction and parental kidnapping charges.

When Marshals approached the residence in the village of Goetzville, they say Giovanni opened fire and injured one of the Marshals. The officer was airlifted to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.

After injuring the officer, Giovanni barricaded himself in a room with the two children.

When law enforcement entered the home, they found Giovanni deceased.

In a written statement, the U.S. Marshals Service said it’s unclear how Giovanni died, and they’ve arrested his wife, Lindsey.

The two children have been placed in the custody of child protective services. The U.S. Marshals service said the incident is still under investigation.
