Airshow on Lakeshore this weekend comes after 17-year hiatus and with an interactive twist

It’s been nearly two decades since the last Muskegon Air Fair, however, this weekend, a number of pilots and planes will once again take to the skies over the lakeshore, as officials are relaunching what is now being dubbed as the inaugural “Wings over Muskegon.”

Years ago, the Muskegon airshow was a typical event featuring a number of aircraft flying in formation over the county’s airport.

That ended in 2006.

While the location remains the same in 2023, officials say this time around, the airshow will offer a more interactive experience for attendees, with the opportunity to take a ride in one of four WW2 warbird aircraft provided by the Yankee Air Museum.

“Our museum prides itself on safety first,” said Museum Communications Coordinator, Brenda Kerfoot.

Gates opened at 9AM Friday morning. The main event is scheduled from 1-3 on Saturday and continues Sunday.
