Secretary of State policy already lets people apply for an absentee ballot online.
Democratic Representative Julie Rogers says it’s a good idea to put it into law anyway just in case.
“I think it’s an important practice to codify into state statute. Any of these practices that are more forward thinking could go away or could change with someone different in that office.”
The policy has faced backlash over security concerns in the past.
The bill could require data like a full ID number, eye color, and partial social security number to sign the online application.
