The Michigan Legislative Black Caucus is renewing a call for law enforcement accountability following the deadly beating of a motorist in Memphis.

Michigan lawmakers had introduced policing bills in previous sessions but many of the proposals stalled.

Democratic Senator Erika Geiss says it’s too early to predict when ideas could come up again.

"Good policy also takes time, and we want to make sure that when we do it that it’s not just words on paper that then don’t really do anything, which happens."

Geiss says some of the ideas that could resurface include bills to ban no-knock search warrants…detail training requirements…and better track officers’ incident records.
