The report from the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget included few surprises.
The department’s Director of Labor Market Information, Wayne Rourke, said it caps off a year of mostly positive trends.
“From the previous year, the state’s unemployment rate dropped 0.8 percentage points since December of 2021. And over the year payroll jobs climbed 92,000 so those are good signs. And then the payroll job gains were widespread.”
Private sector hourly wages went up slightly last month.
The number of people in Michigan’s workforce rose last month compared to a year ago.
