In an effort to brighten the holiday and lift some spirits of families in need, two non-profits in Grand Rapids are joining forces

A news release says “Meaning in Colors” and the “Grand Rapids African American Health Institute or GRAAHI” are partnering on a free “Gift Giving Pop-Up Shop” this weekend. The goal is to provide gifts to families struggling to make ends meet over the holidays.

The event is this Saturday, December 17th. It will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. with donation drop off from 11 to noon. It will be held at the Paul I.Phillips Boys and Girls Club on Madison SE.

The Founder and CEO of “meaning in Colors”, Iryonna Hogan, says quote, “We’re asking for the community’s assistance in making this holiday season a memorable one

for our less fortunate neighbors,” she adds, “We know there are many families who are struggling to pay for basic items, so we’re reaching out to the community in order to make the season a little brighter for those families.” End quote.

They are accepting donations of household goods, cleaning supplies, toiletries, clothing, books, holiday decorations as well as new or like new toys for the families.

GRAAHI CEO, Vanessa Greene says, quote, “We’re proud to partner with Meaning in Colors on this wonderful community event,” she adds, “This will bring joy to children and families who might otherwise feel forgotten this holiday season.” End quote.

You can find out more about ways to give or volunteering at the agencies websites at meaningincolors.org or GRAAHI.com
