“The twinkle lights are up and all things are ready to share with our neighbors in this holiday season.”
Guiding Light is again ready to support its Heartside neighbors long with those it serves in its recovery program. As the agency did for Thanksgiving, it will once again host not one, but two holiday meals this weekend.
“On Sunday we are throwing open the doors of Guilding Light and we’re so eager to welcome back in person our Heartside neighbors with whom we are eager to share a Christmas meal. Our hope is to provide Christmas meals for perhaps 400-450 of our Heartside neighbors.”
That’s Ally Velderman. She is the Guiding Light Director of Community Engagement. She says Sunday’s meal will be served from noon until 1:30 with a a hybrid format which allows guests to enjoy their meal inside Guiding Light or they can take it to go.
She says they’re following the same template from Thanksgiving. At that time she says they gave out 300 meals in one hour.
“It’s an important reminder that food insecurity is real to our neighbors. So its our joy to step up again to do this meal on Sunday.”
And prior to Sunday’s community meal, on Saturday, the agency will host the Guiding Light Family Christmas Meal for people connected to the addiction recovery program.
