University of Michigan Health-West says it’s growing out of its current Wayland health center. As the area’s population increases, there’s a need for expanded services and space to provide it.
UMHW has served Wayland for two decades at its current location and sees and opportunity for growth about a mile away at 113 Superior St. That’s where it will break ground in March next year on a new 17,300 square-foot health center.
The $10.4 million facility will be 75-percent larger than the current structure. The plan is to increase the current staff of three primary care physicians and three advanced practice providers adding three or four more primary care doctors. The number of advanced providers will also increase.
UMHW says it will rotate specialties monthly including cardiology, obstetrics, and gynecology.
