Stabbing another incident of violence near GVSU housing over the weekend

Second week in a row that authorities were responded to potentially deadly assault

For the second weekend in a row, Ottawa County law enforcement responded to a violent incident near Grand Valley State University in Allendale

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s office, detectives are investigating a stabbing that occurred early Saturday morning at an student living-apartment complex near GVSU.

Authorities say. the stabbing happened around 2:45 at the 48 West Apartments in Allendale Township.

By the time deputies arrived on the scene, the Sheriff’s office says the stabbing victim, a 25-year-old Grand Rapids man, left the area in a car and then taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive. No arrests have been made.

It’s the second straight weekend that violence has been reported near GVSU housing in Allendale.

On Saturday, October 22nd, The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and GVSU police responded to an off campus shooting shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday at The Alpine Student Living. That victim survived as well.

Authorities have not determined if the incidents are related.
