Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointed a group of parents to serve on a new state board today.

The Michigan Parents’ Council is scheduled to first meet tomorrow

The Michigan Parents’ Council aims to get family members more involved in writing the state’s next education budget.

That’s through hosting community discussions and drafting a report for the governor to use while writing her budget proposal.

The group “Great Lakes Education Project” has been critical of Whitmer over her COVID policies and opposition to conservative-backed initiatives.

After Whitmer’s appointments…the group accused her of using parents as “political props” rather than empowering them.

The Michigan Parents’ Council is scheduled to first meet tomorrow.
