Shortly after midnight last night, EMU officials sent word that a tentative agreement on a new contract has been reached. It took marathon bargaining over the weekend.
The contentious negotiations had been stuck on a number of issues including compensation and healthcare costs. The roughly 500-tenured and tenure-track educators had been without a contract since August 31st and on strike since September 7th.
Details of the tentative agreement between administration and the EMU chapter of the American Association of University Professors have yet to be released and it has not been revealed as to when union membership will vote on the deal.
