“Coach Tyler Edwards had only been at Comstock Park High School for a year, but school officials say he had a huge impact before his untimely death.”

Coach Tyler Edwards had “remarkable” impact on players

Comstock Park Public Schools is morning the loss of its high school basketball coach who died unexpectedly on Monday. Officials from the school district say Coach Tyler Edwards is believed to have died from cardiac arrest but would not go into the details surrounding his death.

According to the district’s athletic department, school officials and the high school basketball team gathered Monday night after learning the news of Coach Edwards passing, many in shock, many in tears.

Comstock Park Public Schools Athletic Director Kendra Faustin says, Edwards had a tremendous impact on the players he coached.

“I cannot even to tell you with words what an amazing person Coach Edwards was,” Faustin said. “The relationships and influence he had on the players, parents and the community shows exactly who he was as a person.”

Edwards passing comes just one week before the new school year is set to begin at Comstock Park High.

Faustin says however, “it is far too soon to begin talking about” what impact this will have on the upcoming basketball season, or finding a replacement for Coach

Edwards, who was just 27-years-old at the time of his death.
