Michigan House Democrats are asking federal prosecutors to investigate some of their Republican colleagues. Michigan Public Radio’s Colin Jackson has more on a new resolution.
The resolution calls on the Department of Justice to explore whether eleven Republican lawmakers committed “seditious conspiracy” in trying to overturn the 20-20 presidential election results.
Democratic Representative Joe Tate says other forms of rebuke weren’t enough to ensure:
“Yes, it goes beyond a censure, but I think it is warranted for going beyond a censure because how important our democratic institutions are to the fabric of our society and our country.”
Some Michigan Republicans tried to organize a slate of fake electors to give the state's electoral votes to Donald Trump even through Trump lost Michigan to Joe Biden by more than 150-thousand votes.
Requests for Republican comment went unanswered.
