Body found in Grand River

The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating a death on the city’s Northwest side. The Grand Rapids Emergency Communications Center received a call about a body in the Grand River around 8:30am on Monday, August 23. Officers responded to the 1100 block of Front Avenue NW and requested assistance from the GRFD River Rescue. A body was ultimately recovered from the river and transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner.

No additional information is available at this time. Identification, as well as the cause and manner of death, is pending the results of an autopsy.
