Gilda's Club Grand Rapids welcomes back Camp Sparkle

Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids is welcoming its 20th annualCamp Sparkle event in August.

The camp, which is free to attend, serves children entering first through sixth who have been impacted by cancer or grief for any reason. It provides the younger generation with a chance to connect and interact with other kids who have struggled through situations similar to their own.

“We stay true to our motto: "In this together, learn, share, laugh," and that’s where our youngest members get to experience,” Lindsay Joursma, Director of Program Operations and Relations at Gilda’s Club, said.

Camp Sparkle runs August 3-5. Attendees can join virtually or in person at Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. Taught by master-level staff, trained volunteers and special guests, both formats will feature fun, educational elements which provide healthy ways to cope with cancer and grief, supporting overall emotional health.

The in-person camp will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on the grounds of Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. The virtual camp, via Zoom, will take place from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
