In celebration of pride month, Western Michigan University’s Cooley Law School is taking a journey through the history of LGBTQ+ rights with American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan Attorney, Jay Kaplan.

The virtual event runs from 12-1pm and examines the groundbreaking triumphs made toward equality, as well we the work still to come.

“I think it’s time to take into account our history. How did pride come about and you look back at stonewall and trans women of color who decided that they were not going to take the abuse of law enforcement anymore and the harassment and they stood up,” Kaplan said, "I think it’s so important we understand our history because that will inform us on where we go to next,” Kaplan said.

The community conversation is free and open to the public. Registration details can be found here.
