Study: meditiaton linked to fewer mistakes

A recent study from Michigan State University has shown that people who meditate may be less likely to make mistakes.

Researchers from MSU ran a study of which showed that participants who had meditated were more aware of the mistakes they had made immediately after making them.

Jeff Lin, one of the co-authors of the study and doctoral candidate at MSU, said that this awareness is a key part of fixing mistakes.

“A really important step in making less mistakes is being aware of them in the first place,” Lin said. “By appropriately attending to our mistakes the idea is to make the appropriate judgements to diffuse the likely hood of committing them in the future.”

The type of meditation used in the study is known as open monitoring meditation, which focuses on awareness as to what is going on in the mind and body, and is often studied for its benefits.
