Grand Rapids-based Tech Defenders expanding and creating new jobs

A Grand Rapids-based information technology firm is investing millions and creating more than 100 jobs.

Tech Defenders primary business is repairing and extending the life span of classroom mobile devices provided to students by school districts. In a news release its more clearly defines the larger operation as “providing lifecycle solutions for large scale technology deployments.”

The sector is experiencing rapid growth. Grand Rapids’ Tech Defenders is at capacity. The company is investing $2.7 million into a new 73,000 sq. ft. facility located at 601 Maryland Avenue NW. The current workforce of 120 employees will nearly double with the creation of 115 new jobs.

Regional nonprofit economic development organization, The Right Place, assisted with resources and strategy assistance keeping Tech Defender in Grand Rapids. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation is supporting the expansion approving a more than $172,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
