Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority approved the mixed-use development project featuring a movie theater complex.

If all goes as planned, the $140 million mixed-use project could break ground later this year. Celebration Cinema is investing $100 million devoted to a multi-screen movie theater called Studio C! located within the Arena South District at Oakes and Cherry Streets.

Celebration Cinema explains the Studio Park project “ is expected to include a nine screen movie theatre with recliner chairs, unique programming options, a liquor license and expanded food menu. It will also feature 40,000 sf of retail, approximately 250 residential units (built over two phases), Class A office space, a four star hotel, and a 750-plus space parking ramp.”

The project will also include an outdoor plaza.

Should construction begin this year the new multi-screen theater could open mid-to late-2019
