A man visiting a local hospital discovered an abandoned baby in his car as he was about to leave. After calling authorities, police officers were dispatched to Mercy Health Saint Mary's Hospital this morning and where they discovered the infant. The man and the baby were unrelated.
The baby, who authorities say is only a few days old was taken into the hospital and medically examined. Officials say the infant appears to be in good health. They did not say if they have any leads on who left the baby in the vehicle or what the baby's gender is.
The police department's Family Services Team and Child Protective Services is investigating.
