Michigan Rep. Amash says Comey memo is grounds for impeachment

If the James Comey memo allegations prove to be accurate, it would be grounds to impeach President Donald Trump. That is what U.S. House representative Justin Amash (R-MI) told reporters Wednesday according to the Washington based news publication The Hill.

A memo reportedly written by former FBI Director James Comey indicates that President Trump asked Comey to drop an investigation into National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

"Yes," Amash responded when asked by reporters if that was enough to begin impeachment proceedings against Trump.

The White House has denied the allegation.

Amash has been a vocal critic of President Trump. While Amash is a Republican, he has publicly stated that he did not vote for Trump. Amash is also a co-sponsor of a piece of legislation requesting a an indempendent ivestigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election.
