Former Detroit federal prosecutor Barbara McQuade says she's talked to some FBI agents who are unhappy about the firing of director James Comey. McQuade says Comey was "revered within the FBI." She says she knew him as head of the FBI and earlier as deputy attorney general during the George W. Bush administration.
McQuade says she didn't always agree with Comey, but she never doubted his "motives, integrity or independence." She says his firing by President Donald Trump raises concerns about it means for the independence of the FBI. McQuade was a federal prosecutor for nearly two decades, including seven years as U.S. attorney in Detroit.
She stepped down in March and now teaches at University of Michigan law school.
