Shooting near GVSU has police searching for suspects

Grand Rapids police are looking for 3 suspects who shot a 20-year-old victim multiple times early Tuesday morning near Grand Valley State's  University's Pew Campus. Police said the 3 suspects were wearing masks when they knocked on the front door of the victim's house. The victim tried to defend himself with a machete. 

 
Police say the victim was rushed to an area hospital. His injuries are extensive but is expected to survive the assault. It is unknown if the assailants were injured in the confrontation. 

The shooting occurred on Gold Avenue and Fulton at 4:25. The department’s Major Case Team is investigating the incident. Anyone having additional information is requested to call 456-3400 or Silent Observer at 774-2345.
