The Right Place assists molecular research lab with expansion in Grand Rapids

The Right Place, Inc., a regional economic development organization, and the City of Grand Rapids announced on Wednesday the approval of the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF) incentive, bringing 37 new jobs to the area. The investment for the fund will cost $2.8 million over the next three years. The fund will help Grand Rapids based NxGen MDx significantly expand their facility.

NxGen MDx will stay at their current location on Broadway Avenue in Grand Rapids in light of the expansion, which aims to grow their laboratory's testing capabilities and be better equipped to handle an increase in consumer demand.

“We chose to launch NxGen in Grand Rapids back in 2014 within its prestigious medical corridor to offer our patients the very best and brightest of the genetics field,” said Kristin Sherman, Chief Financial Officer, NxGen MDx in a press release. NxGen MDx is a Women’s Healthcare organization that offers genetic screening for women planning for pregnancy.

The Right Place business development team worked to ensure NxGen’s expansion occurred in West Michigan over a competing location in Florida.
