Officials have confirmed a tornado touched down in western Michigan amid storms that caused power outages and some building and property damage.

The National Weather Service says the weak tornado landed Friday afternoon in Allegan County's Saugatuck Township.

The twister and storms heavily damaged a pole barn and sent a tree through the roof of a home. No injuries have been reported.

The storms also brought heavy rain, with Grand Rapids receiving nearly two inches of rain in one hour.

Several thousand homes and business remained without power Saturday morning across western and southwestern Michigan.

Flood warnings remained in effect Saturday for several counties in the region.

Storms also left thousands without power in the Detroit area.
